King's Island

To celebrate the end of a fun summer we went with a couple of our friends to King's Island.  King's Island is an amusement park that has a waterpark too.  Matt and Connor went last year and had a blast so we all had to go this year.  :)  I personally enjoyed the waterpark the most.  The Tidal Wave pool was so much fun!  We laughed and laughed as we 'jumped' the waves.  (I wish we got a picture of it!)

Connor and Michael on the airplane ride.
Connor and his new friend.  He was so excited to tell me that he made a new friend.  (Good practice for school!)
 Connor, Madison and Michael

They LOVED this ride.  I think you're only suppose to have 2 kids per seat but they just had to ride together.  It was really cute.  The ride would whip them around the corners and go slower on the straight-aways.  :)

Happy Birthday Connor!

Happy Happy Birthday Connor dear!!!  Connor turned 4 yrs old yesterday!  He's growing up so much and it's so fun to see him understand and discover new things.   Here's a little bit about our birthday boy Connor.....

Height:  42 inches tall  (grew 3 inches from last year!)
Weight: 41 pounds

Loves playing outside and with friends.  He loves his little sister and is really good to her.  They make each other laugh like no one can.  (I love it!)  He finished his first year at preschool (it was like a Joy school program, rotating between different houses).  He loves Legos and books.  Each week we go to the library and he picks out at least 5-8 books and loves to just sit and read them.  He has the best dimples too!

I'm starting this new tradition (if you want to call it that) every year on the kids' birthdays.  I'm going to ask them the same 23 questions and see how their answers change.  It'll be fun to read through them all over the years.  :)  I took a picture of it so I wouldn't have to type it all out.  I hope you can click on the pic to zoom in and read it.  It's cute!  :)

Here's how we spent Connor's birthday!
Woke up and had some cheesy eggs for breakfast with party hats and blowers.

Then we were off to church.  Connor loved having everyone sing to him in Primary!
We came home and after quiet time we made his cake.
We've affectionately named it 'The green slime monster'.  He wanted a Funfetti cake with green frosting.  I thought I'd do a double decker cake but as you can see it wasn't the greatest idea.  (Don't worry it didn't slide off the plate).  Connor loved it!  He kept telling me he loved it and he didn't care that it was sliding.  :)
 Opened presents before dinner

After dinner (homemade macaroni and cheese, corn and watermelon) we had the green monster!

Linda Kuck (good friend from church) joined us for the festivities.
(We love her!  She's part of our family!)
There's the gang enjoying the birthday celebration!

Happy Birthday Connor!!
We love you lots!!

Butterfly House, Swim Lessons, Fun w/ friends, and Indianapolis

We've been keeping pretty busy this summer and I'm afraid August may be even busier.  Fun fun!!  We've visited some fun places, local and a couple hours away.  (Be prepared - there are lots of pics!)

Butterfly House
This is at Cox Arboretum in Dayton.  They only have this open 1-2 months during the year and it's full of butterflies.  It's really cool.  During the off months they have volunteers take the butterflies and/or caterpillars home and 'babysit' them.
 Checking out a caterpillar.
Some of the butterflies and caterpillars we saw.

This one was huge and blended so well our eyes skipped right over it.

Connor and Matt kid the kids maze.  It's great, all the shrubs are to the knee on an adult so you don't get lost - my kind of maze!
 Watching the boys (sometimes).

Swim Lessons
Connor did Preschool Level 1 for 2 weeks this past July.  He loved it and improved and passed!  Yay!!
At the beginning he would barely get his chin wet and look at him now!  Good job Connor!
 Safety lesson

Fun with friends
We met up with some friends (Madison, Michael, Brian, and Peyton) for Brian's birthday.

 Ya, granny style!
Briella in her cute dress that our friend gave her for her birthday.  (Random, I know!)
Connor and Guy having fun!  Such goof balls!
 Trying to be serious.
Our neighbor and friends moved this past Friday to Dover Delaware.  We'll miss them!  Connor and Guy had lots of fun together (good conversation too.)

Indianapolis
This past weekend we went to Indianapolis for a short family vacation.  We've been wanting to go for a while now and we finally went.  We visited the Children's museum, it was great!  And Bumblebee was there to greet us - it was pretty cool!   This is the actual one they used in the movie 'Transformers' in 2009.  So cool!  He's huge!!!
 We visited the Dinosaurs
 Connor went digging for fossils
 Put together a dinosaur puzzle
Going scuba diving!  (Papa Booth will be so proud!! We're starting young!)

Then on to the Hotwheels exhibit.
Tim (Joe's dad) -  we thought of you the whole time!)

 Testing the ramps

 Briella needed some exercise.  :)
 Crazy drivers!
(Check out the cool purple car in the background.)
 Cool cars

Briella found a friend.  :)  It was great, they had a play area for 24 months and under, fenced off, so they could just play and go where ever.
My family will appreciate this pic!!  :)  Doesn't it remind you of another picture???!!!

Next we visited Egypt.  Connor and Briella ready for dinner in Egypt.
Daddy and kids along the Nile river.
 Cookie break
In the fun house - which one is the real Connor??
We went to a play while at the museum.  They did an adaptation of 'How I became a Pirate', it was so cute and Connor liked it.  It was his first play!
Waiting for Daddy and Briella to pick us up.
(After lunch Matt took Briella back to the hotel so she could take a nap and Connor and I stayed at the museum for more fun.)

Saturday before we left we went to the NCAA Hall of Champions.  (We thought it was going to be the NCAA basketball hall of fame - yup, we were wrong!)
It was interesting, but kind of a let down because it wasn't what we thought.  But we still got to do some fun stuff.

 Our future track star.
It was great to try a lot of the sports equipment and see the different sports because we've been watching the Olympics a lot the past 2 weeks. (So sad they are done.)  :(

He really liked watching swimming during the Olympics.
Briella had to try also.  She's such a little fish!

We ate lunch along the river outside the Hall of Champions. And then headed home.
We were downtown and discovered downtown Indianapolis is really nice.  We were impressed.
