Connor's a Sunbeam (and we got our first snow)!

With the New Year came changes at church. Connor is no longer in nursery he is now a Sunbeam!! I can't believe it! A couple weeks ago the Primary President sent home a letter to all the new Sunbeam parents telling us his new teacher, what to expect, the schedule, etc. In there was also a badge he could wear his first Sunday in Primary to let everyone know he is a Sunbeam and to make him feel special.

So I took him to primary, proudly wearing his badge, and found where his class sits and was just waiting with him for things to get settled (teachers to arrive, etc.). He was just patiently quietly sitting there waiting for things to start and taking it all in. After awhile I asked him if he wanted me to stay and wait with him or go and he said, 'Just go mommy. I'm ok.' Really?? I asked if he was sure and he said he was fine. So I left. I didn't think it would be that easy. I pictured a scene very different from what happened, I really thought there would be more tears involved. But he proved me wrong. He is so grown up!!! I'm so proud of him!! He did a great job and told us all about it on our way home from church. He is such a great kid!!

In other news......we got our first snow of the season! (Well, snow that actually stuck!) It was freezing outside and the snow was very powdery, not to great for snowballs and such. Bummer! But we went outside anyways and played in it. :)

Christmas Eve

Connor and I made these reindeer cookies for Santa and Mrs. Claus. They were DELICIOUS!!!

After our Christmas Eve dinner (which was a Minetto traditional Italian feast - manicotti, Christmas jello, rolls, and salad) we acted out the Nativity (Booth family tradition). The missionaries joined us which was great because we definitely needed more people in our Nativity. Matt loved doing this growing up so it was a 'must have' for our new family traditions. :) I guess my acting skills will come out one way or another. :) (Ya right, acting skills, who am I kidding!)

Christmas Morning!

We had church at 9am so we decided to only open our stocking before church. He was really excited for the Hot-wheels cars.

Connor was funny about Christmas. He loved just opening the presents. Once he opened the gift he would glance at it say something nice and then move right on to the next one. He just wanted to open them all (which he pretty much did).

It was nice having Christmas here in Ohio with just our family. (A little more relaxed not traveling and so nice having our own beds to sleep in on Christmas Eve!) I did miss my family in Oregon, but I guess this means I'm growing up and establishing my own family memories.

2 posts in one week!! It's a new record. :) This week has been fun getting ready for Christmas. Connor is getting really excited for Santa to come and it's fun to see him so happy. On Wednesday we went to The Greene (outdoor mall) and had dinner, saw the live reindeer they had in the square by the HUGE Christmas tree and then rode in a horse drawn carriage. We all loved it! I don't think I've ever seen a live reindeer so that was my favorite part. Their antlers are huge - I was surprised - looks like a lot to carry around. Here are some Christmas pics of all of us. And a song performed by Connor written by Connor! It's so cute! :) Enjoy!

Catch up Time!

So I haven't posted anything for awhile, I'm finally getting around to it. With the holidays and family coming to visit, time just got away from me. Here are some pics from the last few months to hopefully get everyone caught up on what's been going on in our life.

At the beginning of November my family came out to visit for an early Thanksgiving. It was great! We were all crammed in our house for over a week - oh, the memories! :)

We went up to Kirtland Ohio to see the church history sites. It was a lot of fun to see all the history and learn about what happened there. This is in front of the Kirtland Temple.

Inside the John Johnson Farm house. This place was amazing! It's a little out of the way but so worth it to go and hear from the missionaries what happened there. It was probably my favorite site.

Connor was done with his dinner early (of course) and he wanted Grandpa to read him a book. It was so cute!!! He LOVED having everyone there. I wish we lived closer to family.

So after all the Thanksgiving fun, Connor got really sick. At first they thought he had the flu but it turned out to be pneumonia. Poor kid. Well Matt's co-workers got Connor a gift. It was soooo nice of them. They gave him some blocks and this cute bear - he loves both of them and plays with them often. He was so excited and it really did make him feel better that day!

Well on to Christmas! We went Christmas tree shopping after the Thanksgiving weekend. We went to a bunch of Christmas tree farms but they were really expensive, almost $100 for a fir tree. Yikes!! I'm used to the $20 u-cut trees in Oregon. So since those were definitely out of our price range we ended up going to Home Depot and getting a tree. I never thought I would do that!

Connor got stuck in the middle of some trees at Home Depot. Can't you just hear him......"Help!"

Decorating our beautiful Noble Fir tree. It took up a good portion of our living room but it was really nice and smelled great. Don't you just love Santa's helper's hat! :)

Connor was actually pretty good about not pulling on the tree. He would usually just go up to it, barely touch a branch and say 'tree'.

Oh yes, the classic Santa picture! Connor was ok with Santa until we got right up to him and he freaked out. He was trying to climb over me to get away from him. Honestly, it was hard not to laugh. :)

We spent Christmas this year in Wyoming with Matt's parents. We weren't sure how Connor was going to be with their dog because around that time he was really afraid of dogs. But Papa Booth was really great and got Connor comfortable with Rez, their dog, and from then on he would ask Papa Booth frequently to see the dog. It was really really cute!!

Connor's first haircut!!! Can you believe it. This was right around New Years. We started to cut his hair with scissors but it wasn't doing the trick so we switched to clippers. I thought Connor would freak out but he didn't mind at all.

We kept him entertained by letting him play in the sink while we cut. He LOVED it!!!

He doesn't look like a baby anymore - he looks like a little boy! I had a hard time with it for a couple days then I was used to it. Matt did a good job cutting!! :)

So we found an old pair of sunglasses and Connor loves to put them on and walk around saying 'Hello'! It's really funny! He always has this big grin on his face when he puts them on!

Halloween!!!

So Rachel, John and I started out the day with a good old fashioned run. Well John ran the 5K and Rachel and I did the 10K. Honestly, it was torture! The weather was windy and cold and not many people ran the 10K so we were all by ourselves for awhile. We ended up seeing a few of our neighbors there, they ran the 5K with their kids. This was taken right after Rachel and I finished so we look fabulous and so happy to be done!! :)

We had a bunch of people over for a game of kickball followed by a chili and soup potluck and then trick or treating around the neighborhood. Here's the cute little group that Connor went trick or treating with. They all looked so cute!!

Clifton Gorge - John Bryan State Park

This last week we went out to Clifton Gorge in John Bryan State park to see the beautiful trees. We didn't see to many trees with colorful leaves on them in the park but the parking lot had pretty ones. (They're at the end.)

It was nice to get outside that day even if it was a little cold.

It was really pretty and amazing!

I guess Matt and I were saying 'Wow' and 'Whoa' a lot and so Connor picked it up and was saying it all the time. It was really cute!

Pickin' Apples

We went to Tukens Orchard in Alexandria. It was a little windy, Connor wasn't sure what to think.

They had so many different varieties and tons of them.

It was nice, the trees were low enough for Connor to pick some too. Check out all those he picked! :) Just joking!

The 'aisles' of apples went on forever. I'm sure that's what Connor thought.

We made pizza after General Conference on Sunday. Connor had fun, I think he enjoyed tasting and taking toppings off more than putting them on. :) It was cute!

I know my friends here in Ohio are so excited - I finally caved under the pressure!!! :) I really don't know what I'm doing yet so bear with me. Here are some funny (and sad) pics of Connor!

The war wounds of a new walker! He fell on the concrete while playing outside. Poor kid!

Matt went in to get Connor a couple mornings ago and this was how he found him - one arm in and one out! Connor was also playfully yelling at the top of his lungs to get our attention so that whole morning Matt kept calling him 'Tarzan'.

It got a little too quiet in the kitchen one morning and this is what I found. :) Yup, he LOVES toilet paper! No idea why. Funny kid!
